Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat
Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat is in deep south in Hambantota district. It’s surrounded by Sabaragamuwa Province and Uwa Province. And also Ambalantota Divisional Secretariat, Hambantota Divisional Secretariat, Lunugamwehera Divisional Secretariat are around the Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat.
A newly opened Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Ground belongs to Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat. Padikemgala Rajamaha Viharaya is in south Conner and in the other side historical Karambagala and Madunagala cave temples are there. Hot water springs is a popular place in our divisional secretariat.
Most of the people are farmers and beautiful paddy fields are in the area. Sinhalese, Tamil, and Muslim people live in harmony. And Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu and Islam religions can be seen as well.
Firstly Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat office is opened as sub divisional secretariat office in 1990.From 1993 it’s moved near to bridge junction in 2003.
There are 4 roads that lead to Sooriyawewa Divisional Secretariat.First road is Hambantota – Sooriyawewa road. Second is Embilipitiya – Sooriyawewa new road via Padalangala. And other road is Embilipitiya – Sooriyawewa old road via Moraketiya. Forth road is Thanamalvila – Embilipitiya road. You may turn to left from Kumaragama junction and via Mahagalwewa, Meegahajandura , then you can come to Sooriyawewa divisional secretariat.
